A lightly-raced and full of potential 7yr old gelding, Runrized is a fabulous chance to get involved with an exciting hurdler, who is going places.
We have a very limited number of shares available in Gold and Green Crowd horse Runrized. He was purchased at the Horses In Training sale from top, top drawer trainer Willie Mullins, who once paid £300,000 for Runrized. His career has stalled but we have the right team to bring him back to his best.
Trained on the South Coast, near Lewes, RUNRIZED is in the care of mother and daughter training team, Camilla and Eliza Poulton. Eliza had selected Runrized as one to look out for before the sales, and much about his form appealed. Utilising our contacts in the selling yard, we knew what we were looking at, and that he had suffered some minor issues but nothing that a switch to a smaller stable wouldn't fix. We did expect the gelding to be beyond our budget but a combination of delight/ astonishment greeted our success bid, well below what we had imagined.
We have had excellent success with a similar profile racehorse purchased from a top Irish stable, who benefitted from one to one attention in a small yard. Aced IT was picked up by Eliza from Joseph O'Brien and now 8 of Ace's best race ratings have come in the 9 runs he has had for Camilla. Including 2 wins, something that neither John Oxx or Joseph O'Brien could manage. A similar outcome with Runrized would see us with an excellent and exciting jumping prospect on our hands.
Runrized was bred in France, and unusually for horse of his pedigree and size, almost made a successful debut at Angers, just being worn down in last few strides by a classy horse with previous experience. A six-month break over the winter saw him return and win very well by four lengths on his return over 10furlongs at Durtal. This win combined a very good run up in class next time, persuaded Willie Mullins to pay £300,000 to take him to Ireland. A huge amount of money for a horse of this type.
Runrized made his Irish debut at Naas in January 2019, and although was a beaten favourite, Willie Mullins still thought him good enough to go to Cheltenham for the Grade1 Triumph Hurdle. A respectable run was followed by over 9 months off, and a poor return run saw an even longer period off before again returning to the track with two pulled up runs. April 2021, saw Runrized hit form with a bang, with an impressive win at Naas, a run that stood out for the improvement showed by the horse racing wide all the way. His three subsequent runs for Willie, were a jumps jockeys flat race which was ran at a bizarre pace, a novice hurdle on ground far too quick, and a huge handicap on the flat at the Galway festival.
He arrived with us as a very anxious and nervous racehorse, and the regime of a big yard would be very hard for him to handle. He has settled a lot and is doing some exceptional work. He has ran for us once, at Sandown, over a trip we expect to be beyond his best and he ran very well for a long way before getting tired and pulling up.

TRAINER CAMILLA POULTON
After a long and successful period as assistant trainer to Jamie Poulton, Camilla has taken over the licence with her eldest daughter Eliza as assistant.
Camilla’s attention to detail and care over the years speaks for itself boasting a low injury rate where horses are trained in the most natural environment possible. Based at Telscombe, every horse gets the individual attention and treatment needed and cater to their specific needs. One of the main priorities is bringing back horses season after season, sound, sweet and healthy. The way the team train their horses encourages them to relax and enjoy their work here on the South Downs which Team Poulton is situated in the heart of.
The small secluded yard in the hamlet of Telscombe village is just a short walk away from the beautiful coast and beach which is regularly used for the horses and has a huge impact on their physical and mental well-being. The string enjoys a different training routine every day surrounded by stunning scenery which keeps them sweet and enjoying their work.
Other facilities include an outdoor sand school complete with barrels, show jumps and mini hurdles, a set of racecourse hurdles, chase fences, jumping lane of tyre jumps and cross country jumps. They also have a 3 bay set of starting stalls followed by a 3-furlong turf strip. The turf gallops consist of a mile and half stretch along the coast, unlimited miles of Downland in which they include steep hills for interval training and a 5-furlong steady climb canter for every day.
Beautiful all year turnout paddocks including enough space to turn horses away for their holidays are a real asset. Every horse is turned out as much as possible which ensures their physical and mental health to be as consistent as possible and helps them relax into their everyday training routine.
The Gold and Green Crowd is all about building a positive community for the betterment of UK horse racing. By supporting smaller trainers, and younger jockeys we are starting to make an impact, but without our members, we would be nowhere.
Feedback from the members is imperative to our future decisions and focus, and we always welcome it and love to share it!
"I love having the opportunity to visit the stables and chat with the trainers while watching my horse work. I know there are a few of us involved, but that just enhances the experience. I have met some great people and the winners' enclosure is a cracking place to share with them"
I am in my first year and it's by far the best syndicate I have ever been in and is excellent value for money. I go racing a lot and have been grateful to go racing twice as an owner with the club and had brilliant days out.
