“The sun shone, the Pimms flowed, and the hospitality was exceptional”

For many people, business and pleasure should never be mixed. But this is exactly what RYAN SARTAIN has done and is now in the early stages of forging a career in an industry that he names as his passion.

He is the founder and creator of RS Racing, an advisory business within the horseracing industry. Some would call RS Racing a “tipping company” and badge Ryan as a “tipster” but Ryan has a deeper passion for the sport, and would prefer to see his business as an advisory service which if followed, shows his clients an upside over a period of time. His selections are worked out as part of a strategy to show a sustained increase in profits, and not a quick win/ lose approach.

Ryan has always had a passion for horses and in addition to RS Racing, he has also joined the team at The Gold and Green Crowd; combining his entrepreneurial brain, childhood passion and his willingness to learn and work hard to give his dream opportunity to have a career in the horse racing world.

Ryan’s love for horse racing began at a young age. Along with the infectious ‘buzz’ and ‘atmosphere’ that comes with any race, he has always been taken by the actual horses themselves. Ryan says, ‘it blows my mind, the speed they can travel’. In one word, he describes horse racing as ‘unique’, something that draws you in and keeps your attention.

When you live and breathe a sport, it can be hard to pick a favourite team or player, or even a standout horse. However with his true admiration and passion for the sport, Ryan believes that his favourite horse over the years, has to be Enable. Enable was foaled in February 2014 and earned some £10 million in prize-money. She won 15 out of her 19 races, coming in with almost an 80% success rate for all of her races. When asked further about Enable, Ryan recalls ‘I love the way she travelled in her races… she just breezed past horses. The bond she had with her jockey was also very special.’

After having been involved in horse racing as a fan for many years, Ryan took another step into the industry and founded RS Racing. He wanted to ‘show what a magnificent sport [horse racing is] and the best way I thought I could do that was by creating RS Racing.’

All too often a business hatched from a passion can end in failure and the once loved hobby, ends up tainted. Ryan, however, seems to have cracked the code and his business is firmly on the up. Ryan started from the ground up and now RS Racing is currently 15,000 members strong. By his own admission RS Racing ‘is nowhere near where I want it to be’ but through hard work, a firm social media presence and ‘lots of different promotions’, Ryan believes RS Racing can become one of the best racing advisory businesses out there. RS Racing currently charges £30 a month, giving you access to monthly feedback, ensuring positive results and welcomes you into the ever-growing community of like minded fans.

Many people disregard selecting winning racehorses as a simple equation, however this is not the case. For Ryan, this work entails ‘many hours of studying and analysis work into the selections’ he sends out. Picking out horses for selection can be an arduous task, but in the end it is worth it for the community of RS Racing members. Ryan describes his business as ‘offering people the chance to make a side income whilst still enjoying the sport’, which truly sounds like a win-win scenario.

Ryan is at the beginnings of his business career, so he has ample time to nurture and develop RS Racing. The future holds many possibilities, but for Ryan, he has his eyes set on growing his community of members and ‘getting everybody involved in racing’. Aside from his business, Ryan dreams of being able to own a horse as good as Enable one day. This would be a great full circle moment, from that child who loved watching the races, to a man with an established business in the horseracing industry and his very own Enable.

In closing, Ryan is on his way to truly making his mark in the racing sphere and no doubt there is more to come. We asked Ryan for the 3 key rules he uses to drive his career in the racing world. He kept it simple.

Work hard.

Don’t let negativity get to you.

Back winners.

Molly Raby is a member of The Gold and Green writing team and recently graduated from Salford university. I have always had a passion for writing and that was furthered during my time at university as I studied English Language and Creative Writing. I have always been interested in journalism as a career and wrote a few pieces for the university newspaper which allowed me to find my voice.

I have been actively looking for journalistic writing opportunities, so once I came across Green and Gold Crowd Racing and realised they were in need of a journalistic content writer, I knew I couldn’t let this chance pass me by. I am extremely excited to begin working here and representing those within this amazing community to the best of my ability.
